The Pink Hotel Elevator

Going Up?

The elevator doors close before you have completely decided where you’re going.

There is no attendant.

There is, however, a note taped beside the buttons:

PLEASE DO NOT PRESS EVERYTHING AT ONCE.

Someone has underlined everything twice.

Choose a floor.

L — Grand Lobby

ARRIVALS • DEPARTURES • SECOND CHANCES

Every guest begins somewhere.

Return to the front desk, orient yourself, and decide what kind of visitor you intend to be.

The doors open onto the Grand Lobby →

2 — Public Rooms

LIVE TONIGHT

You hear music before the elevator stops.

This floor contains some of the Hotel’s more publicly accessible rooms.

There may be a stage.

There will almost certainly be trouble.

See what’s playing inside The Pink Hotel →

Or follow the sound coming from behind one particular door:

Enter The Honey Gunn →

Open Room 019 — The Shadow Room →

3 — Resident Floor

AUTHORIZED KEYS PREFERRED

The hallway is quieter here.

Names appear on doors that weren’t there yesterday.

Residents receive Hotel transmissions, early invitations, new room openings, private gatherings, hidden storylines, casting opportunities, and occasional messages of questionable origin.

You could continue pretending you’re only visiting.

Or receive your key →

4 — Voltage Ballroom

FORMALWEAR OPTIONAL • MOVEMENT INEVITABLE

The doors open.

The bass arrives first.

Somewhere beyond the ballroom doors, the signal is getting stronger.

Follow the signal into VOLTAGE! →

5 — The Electric Garden

AFTER DARK

Warm air enters the elevator.

This is concerning because you are indoors.

Beyond the doors: orchids, firelight, aerial bodies, electric color, tropical night, and things glowing that probably shouldn’t be.

Enter The Electric Garden →

6 — The Archive

PLEASE RETURN ALL MEMORIES TO THEIR PROPER DRAWERS

Photographs.

Letters.

Performances someone swears never happened.

Names you almost recognize.

The Hotel keeps records differently than most institutions.

Search The Archive →

7 — The Architect’s Floor

CONSTRUCTION NEVER ENDS

There are blueprints under the door.

Some depict rooms you have already visited.

Others depict rooms that do not yet exist.

One appears to contain your name.

Visit The Architect Suite →

B — Below

THE ELEVATOR HESITATES

The illuminated B flickers.

You hear something underneath you.

There are easier ways back to the lobby.

But easy was never really the point.

Prowl The Hallway →

? — Floor Not Listed

There is no number beside this button.

Someone keeps polishing it.

Pressing it would be irresponsible.

Press it anyway →

SERVICE

You almost miss this one.

It’s smaller than the others.

Brass.

No floor number.
