Curating an Immersive Cabaret Experience for Soho House Chicago
When Soho House Chicago envisioned House of Love, they weren’t simply looking to book performers—they were creating an evening with its own atmosphere, rhythm, and identity.
Vaudezilla was invited to collaborate with the Member Events team to curate a bespoke cabaret experience that felt native to Soho House: sophisticated, cinematic, playful, and deeply immersive. Rather than presenting disconnected stage acts, we developed an evening that unfolded organically through carefully choreographed performance moments, ambient entertainment, live music direction, and thoughtful guest interaction.
The result was an elegant hospitality experience where entertainment became part of the environment rather than an interruption to it.
From Entertainment Booking to Creative Direction
The project began as a request for three to four Chicago cabaret performers, but quickly evolved into a broader creative collaboration.
Working alongside the Soho House events team, Vaudezilla developed multiple creative approaches for the evening, each with a different balance of ambient performance and featured moments. Together, we selected an immersive format that allowed the entertainment to gradually unfold throughout the night, giving members new discoveries rather than asking everyone to stop and watch a stage.
Beyond casting performers, Vaudezilla also assumed responsibility for the evening’s creative pacing, cueing every performance while designing a continuous musical soundscape that connected arrivals, transitions, featured acts, and the close of the evening into one seamless experience.
Designing an Evening Instead of a Show
Rather than producing isolated performances, the entertainment was intentionally woven into the guest journey.
Throughout the evening, members encountered:
- Ambient roaming cabaret performers
- Elegant featured solos
- Ensemble productions
- Seamless musical transitions
- Cinematic pacing
- Interactive moments that encouraged conversation instead of interrupting it
The evening moved naturally between atmosphere and spectacle, allowing guests to remain immersed in the experience while the entertainment continuously evolved around them. The custom run of show reflected this philosophy, beginning with an ambient invitation, building through ensemble and solo performances, and concluding with an immersive finale that transitioned naturally into the remainder of the evening.
