2009
A real Vaudezilla history

Bringing Mardi Gras north is not a new costume package.

Vaudezilla’s Chicago Mardi Gras history reaches back to 2009, when the company produced a month-long Mardi Gras burlesque celebration at Blue Bayou on Southport. Since then, our creative world has continued to cross cabaret, masquerade, immersive character work, live music and artists whose careers have moved between Chicago and New Orleans performance communities.

We are not trying to recreate New Orleans in Chicago. We bring the spirit of celebration, theatricality, music, masquerade and participation north—and build it for the room we are actually standing in.
